Q: What led you to work in the holistic wellness industry?
I grew up in a spiritual and metaphysical household. My mother ran a large crystal shop in California and as a child, I would accompany my mother to work and developed a deep fascination with crystals and stones. Collecting and playing with them became my favorite pastime, leaving a trail of stones wherever I went. My mother also had interest in astrology and metaphysical arts, which exposed me to these concepts growing up. She never imposed anything on me. I was nurtured to be a free spirit and I truly embraced that. I always felt a strong inclination towards helping others. Growing up, I had many friends and it seemed like those who needed assistance or healing were drawn to me. This experience fueled my desire to make a difference in people’s lives, leading me to work in western medicine for 15 years as a Certified Medical Assistant (CNM) and Registered Nurse (RN). However, I eventually realized that the medical field was primarily driven by business rather than helping people. This realization became even more evident when I faced my own health battle, confronting a life-threatening illness that western medicine couldn’t address. As a result, I embarked on a holistic approach to healing, seeking alternatives beyond conventional medical practices. My first Reiki session left me in awe. I couldn’t believe the transformative power of someone simply placing their hands over me. The session brought immense peace, as if the burdens of the world had been lifted off my shoulders. That session marked a turning point in my life, leading to a transformative journey. I pursued becoming a Reiki master and started exploring other holistic healing modalities. Little did I know that this journey would ultimately guide me to discover my mission and purpose.
Q: What do you like most about your line of work?
My deepest passion lies in helping others in their path. I feel that we all want to improve our lives and become the highest versions of ourselves. I have the gift of being able to connect in the highest version and help others by connecting them to that place. I’m incredibly driven to change the world and make it a better place. This isn’t just my job, it’s my mission in life. That’s the reason why when I worked to bring Aura to life, I prioritized creating a space that catered to the mind, body, and spirit. I envisioned a place where the community could unite, learn, and evolve together. The aim was to educate people of all ages about the power of healing. Instead of being just another service center, I wanted to establish a genuine holistic wellness center. I understood the significance of sacred space, and at Aura, I believe we successfully crafted an environment that embodies that. Looking ahead, I eagerly anticipate the ongoing journey of learning, growth, and the opportunity to continue aiding the collective's well-being.
Q: What do you enjoy doing for fun?
I adore both music and dancing, frequently attending concerts and shows. I cherish spending quality time with my beloved husband, five boys, and puppy. Being a "boy mom" brings me immense joy.
